“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
Jeremiah 29:11 KJV
Today, while driving my Dad to several appointments, he became frustrated a couple of times attempting to tell me where to turn and when to accelerate or stop. You could hear and see his anger rising.
Instead of meeting his mood with my own, I calmly said to him – “I got this, you need to let it go.” He was in a place where he needed to surrender. He needed to relax and trust me. Trust that I would get him where he needed to go safely and on time.
Immediately I thought to myself, that’s got to be what God says to us…”I got this. I don’t mean you harm. Don’t you know you I have an expected end for you?” (That’s Daphne’s interpretation of Jeremiah 29:11 above.)
I have inherited that control trait from him.
Lately I’ve been very frustrated and angry with many things – work, family and my home situations due to flood. Being out of control and not being able to control haunts me. It’s almost caused me to shut down completely. I wanted to pull one of my getaway moments this past weekend, but I recognized I’d come back to the same issues I left.
As I told my Dad – I need to surrender.
I can’t control any of the situations as much as I might try. I’ve lost joy, peace and temperance over this stuff for too long. I truly believe God is saying to me – handle what you can and watch me handle the rest.
Just like I had control of the car and my father grew frustrated- I need to hand the wheel over and stop being a back seat driver. I need to acknowledge God has control of my life. The GREAT THING – He’s not only in control of one aspect of my life, but He’s the Creator and controls the whole world.
I really need to let go
…and so do you.
Let us pray for one another without ceasing!

Amen 🙏

Hey Sands,
This piece is so on point! I love it! It is a beautiful reminder to all of us that God doesn’t need our help. The Potter doesn’t need assistance from the clay.
The need to control our lives is the fastest way for us to block our blessings.
Thanks for sharing your spiritual insight with us.
